Keeping a blog is something that just about anyone can do: if you only know how to express your thoughts in writing, you are probably halfway to owning your own blog. But owning and running a high-quality blog is another issue. From the countless blogs on the worldwide web, only a small percentage can truly be considered a high quality blog.
Quality when it comes to blog can refer to many things, the first of which that it offers sufficient quality to convince your readers that they want to come back to your blog. This is important, because readers are what allow you to make money off your blog: the greater audience you can reach, the greater your chances of making a sale or getting advertising income.
So how do you improve the quality of your blog?
1. Focus on your interests. If you have already jumped into a blog that you do not really feel interested in, you may be in a bind. You can decide one of two things: the first, you can change the entire feel of the blog into something you are truly interested in, or second, you can find interest in one or more aspects of the blog topic. For example, if your blog is about being a homemaker and you really are not that interested in it and are in fact wondering about making money from home, maybe you can actually shift the focus of your blog into that particular niche, making money out of the things that you do at home. This way, you will not be talking about how to cook or how to plan menus, and instead will be talking about how to shop wisely to lower costs for, say, a catering business. Focusing on your interests is the first key to improving the overall quality of your blog.
2. Research, research, research. Sometimes, you may feel that you know exactly what you want to say about a particular subject. And over a few months, you may actually have enough to say to last you a while. But what happens when you run out of ideas? Do you simply quit and wait for inspiration to strike? Or do you go online and research blogs on a similar topic? If you are truly interested in the subject, research is actually just an overflow, as you already want to know more about the subject. From there, incorporate your learning into your own blog, as this will definitely add value for your readers.
3. Consider your readers’ needs. Many search engines commend blogs that answer a search query as closely and as on the dot as possible. While search engines may not award you for being sensitive to readers’ needs, your readers will definitely be happy to give you something in return: willingly bookmarking your page and even recommending it to their friends and network. In the world of blogs, this is a very important benefit, as you will get a wider readership base than if you only did artificial backlinking on your own.
Once you understand these tree basic principles behind a high-quality blog, you will surely soon be on your way to article marketing success.
